Retail
Know which local rate moved before it hits the receipt.
Retail tax setup follows the general sales and use rate for the store’s jurisdiction. When that rate changes, the receipt should follow the official chart, not last quarter’s spreadsheet.
Not a calculator. Not filing. Not a giant rate table.
What changed, and the proof
Each row names the jurisdiction, the previous and current general rates when the chart printed both, the change, the effective date the state printed, and the official source. A missing prior rate stays blank.
Use the row to update the general rate on that store. The rate-update checklist and the NetSuite guide cover the handoff. US Sales Tax Rates does not push rates into a register or an ERP.
What this does not do
This is not a taxability engine. It does not decide whether an item is taxable, and it does not calculate a cart. Checkout calculation stays with your tax engine or point of sale.
After the rate is published
Start monitoring
Monitoring is paid. The sample Rate Change Report is an excerpt from loaded official charts, not a personalized watchlist.
