Update Dynamics 365 after a sales tax rate change
Dynamics 365 sales tax codes are yours to edit. The change page tells you the printed general rate and where the state posted it.
1. Read the change
Take the jurisdiction, previous rate, new rate, effective date, and official source from the period page or your Rate Change Report. Confirm the rate on the official source.
2. Open the sales tax code
In Dynamics 365 Finance, go to Tax, then Indirect taxes, then Sales tax, then Sales tax codes. Open the code that posts for that jurisdiction. If your legal entity uses a different menu, use the sales tax code the orders already hit.
3. Add the rate for the effective date
Enter the new general rate with the effective date from the row. Keep the prior rate in place through the day before, when the code uses dated values. An upcoming row on our site is not in effect yet.
4. Preview a sales order
Check one sales order for that ship-to jurisdiction. The general rate should match the chart. Item taxability is not part of this product.
US Sales Tax Rates tells you which general sales and use rate changed, when it takes effect, and the official source. We do not integrate with Dynamics 365 and we do not update sales tax codes for you.
Start monitoring
Monitoring is paid. The sample Rate Change Report is an excerpt from loaded official charts, not a personalized watchlist.
