US Sales Tax Rates Terms of Use

Last updated: October 11, 2026

By using ussalestaxrates.com or buying a plan, you agree to these terms.

What this site is

This site is a rate monitor. It republishes published U.S. state and local sales and use tax rates from official charts and related public sources so you can look them up more easily. It shows the latest official file we have loaded from each state’s tax agency. The official source always controls.

Not tax advice

Nothing on this site is tax, legal, accounting, or compliance advice. We do not determine your tax liability, nexus, filing obligations, or what you should charge. Always verify rates and rules with the official state Department of Revenue (or equivalent) before you file, charge tax, or make a business decision.

Accounts and sign-in

  • You sign in with a link we email to you. There is no password.
  • Each link works once and expires after 15 minutes.
  • After you sign in, a cookie keeps you signed in on that browser for up to 30 days, or until you sign out.
  • Your plan is tied to the email you used at checkout. Anyone who can open that inbox can sign in, so keep it secure.

Plans and billing

  • Prices are in US dollars. Stripe handles payment on its own checkout page.
  • Pay yearly is one charge that covers four quarters: the quarter you start in and the next three. It does not renew.
  • Pay quarterly is a subscription. It can start only on the first day of a calendar quarter, US Eastern time. The first day you can start one is January 1, 2027. You are charged that day, then every three months, until you cancel.
  • One quarter only is one charge for the quarter that is open when you buy. It does not renew.
  • Each quarter’s full chart opens when that quarter starts. Paying early does not open a later quarter early.
  • If a quarterly renewal payment fails, access stays on for up to 14 days, and not past the end of that quarter, while you update your card. If it is still unpaid after that, access turns off until the payment goes through.

Canceling

  • You can cancel Pay quarterly any time. Sign in, go to your account page, and choose Manage billing or cancel. That opens Stripe’s billing page, where you can cancel, update your card, or see invoices. You can also email feedback@ussalestaxrates.com from the address on your account.
  • When you cancel, the subscription stops renewing and you are not charged again. You keep access through the end of the quarter you already paid for.
  • Pay yearly and One quarter only do not renew, so there is no renewal to stop. Access ends when the quarters you paid for end.
  • You can still cancel Pay yearly early and ask for a refund, as the Refunds section explains.

Refunds

  • One quarter only is non-refundable once access starts.
  • Pay yearly: you can cancel and ask for a refund any time. Email us at feedback@ussalestaxrates.com. We charge each quarter you have started at the current One quarter only price for your plan (Starter Focused $139, Professional Multi-State $399, Business National $629), and refund the rest of what you paid. If that leaves nothing, there is no refund. Access for that purchase ends when the refund is issued.
  • For example, Starter Focused yearly costs $396. Cancel in quarter 1 and you get $257 back. Cancel in quarter 2 and you get $118 back. Cancel in quarter 3 or 4 and there is no refund.
  • Pay quarterly: cancel any time to stop the next charge. You keep access through the end of the quarter you paid for. Quarterly charges are non-refundable.
  • Duplicate purchases and billing errors are always refunded in full.
  • Refunds go to the original payment method. Banks usually take 5 to 10 business days to show it.
  • If we fail to deliver the quarterly report for states on your plan, contact us at feedback@ussalestaxrates.com for a refund or credit.
  • A full refund ends access for that purchase.
  • If you file a chargeback or payment dispute with your bank, access for that purchase ends while it is open. If the dispute is decided in our favor, access comes back.

Price changes

We may change prices for new purchases at any time. A price change does not change a charge you already paid. Changing a price on the site does not change an existing quarterly subscription. We will not raise the price of an existing quarterly subscription without emailing you at least 30 days before the charge, and you can cancel before it applies.

No warranties; limitation of liability

The site is provided “as is.” We work to keep rates current, but charts change, parsers can miss edge cases, and official sources control. To the fullest extent allowed by law, we are not liable for decisions made from this site or for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages. If liability cannot be fully disclaimed, it is limited to the greater of $100 or the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim.

Acceptable use

Do not abuse the site or its APIs (including automated scraping that degrades service, attempts to bypass security, or spam of the feedback form).

Feedback

If you send feedback, you grant us a non-exclusive right to use the content of your note to improve the service. Do not send confidential personal data you do not want us to receive.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Florida, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. Courts in Florida have exclusive jurisdiction, except where prohibited.

Changes

We may update these terms. The “Last updated” date will change when we do.
