Update Toast after a sales tax rate change
Use the change row as the source of the new general rate, then enter that rate in Toast yourself. This is not a Toast connection.
1. Read the change
Open the recent changes index, the state period page, or your Rate Change Report. Note the jurisdiction, the previous rate, the new rate, the effective date, and the official source. Skip meals, alcohol, and other specialty rates. This product does not supply those.
2. Match the restaurant
Match the jurisdiction to the Toast restaurant. A city rate and a county rate are different rows. Use the code and the name on the report, then confirm them on the official source before you edit Toast.
3. Edit the general rate in Toast
In Toast Web, open Payments, then Tax rates, for that restaurant. Set the general sales tax rate to the new rate printed on the chart. If your account uses a different menu label, use Toast’s own tax-rate settings for that restaurant. Leave specialty rates unchanged.
4. Time it to the effective date
If Toast lets you schedule the rate, schedule it for the effective date on the row. If it does not, change the rate on that date and ring a test check before service. Verified on the report is when the file was retrieved. It is not the effective date.
5. Keep the proof
Save the official source link with the change record. If the chart and Toast disagree, the official chart wins until you resolve it with the agency.
US Sales Tax Rates tells you which general sales and use rate changed, when it takes effect, and the official source. We do not integrate with Toast, sign into your Toast account, or push a rate into the restaurant.
Start monitoring
Monitoring is paid. The sample Rate Change Report is an excerpt from loaded official charts, not a personalized watchlist.
