Update Restaurant365 after a sales tax rate change

Restaurant365 holds the rate the location charges. Update the general rate from the official change. This site does not log into Restaurant365.

  1. 1. Read the change

Take the jurisdiction, previous rate, new rate, effective date, and official source from the change page or the Rate Change Report. Do not use a meals or prepared-food figure from somewhere else and treat it as this product. We do not calculate meals tax.

  2. 2. Open the location

In Restaurant365, open the location that sits in that jurisdiction. Find the general sales tax rate on the location. If the label in your tenant differs, use Restaurant365’s location sales-tax settings.

  3. 3. Replace the general rate

Enter the new printed general rate. Do not overwrite a separate meals, alcohol, or other specialty rate with this number. Those taxes are outside this product.

  4. 4. Apply it on the effective date

Change the rate so guest checks on and after the effective date use it. If Restaurant365 does not schedule a future rate, make the edit on that date and check one ticket. The upcoming column on our report is a rate the state already printed that is not in effect yet. Do not charge it early.

  5. 5. Attach the source

Keep the official source with the location change so the workpaper shows why the rate moved.

US Sales Tax Rates tells you which general sales and use rate changed, when it takes effect, and the official source. We do not integrate with Restaurant365 and we do not write the rate into a location record.

Start monitoring

Monitoring is paid. The sample Rate Change Report is an excerpt from loaded official charts, not a personalized watchlist.
