Changes
The jurisdictions that changed on this Vermont chart are included with a plan.
- Montgomery no longer has a local option sales tax, so it is not on this chart. Vermont's Local Option Sales Tax table prints Montgomery: October 2022 (Rescinded as of 10/1/2025).
The Local Option Tax page prints local option sales tax as 6% sales tax + 1% = 7% total tax. Vermont Use Tax is imposed on the buyer at the same rate as the sales tax. Getting Started prints: Use tax is not subject to local option tax. The sales total adds local option sales tax only for a municipality on the local option sales tax table whose date is in effect on the refresh day in America/New_York. Use tax on every published row stays at the state sales rate. Meals, rooms, and alcoholic beverage tables on the same page are not sales tax rates. Local Option Tax does not apply to the sale or rental of motor vehicles which are subject to the motor vehicle purchase and use tax. Monitoring and validation only.
