Tennessee Sales & Use Tax Rate Publications

Rate information and official source materials for supported quarters.

Rates from the current streamlined rate file linked on the Department's SST page. Names are not in that file; they come from the Department's situs code list and SST lookup service.

Tennessee's name sources do not give one place name for 11 rate codes, so these rows show their type and code. The rate file TNR2026Q4AUG21.csv prints them with no name, for example "47,1,43780,0.025,0.025,0.025,0.025,19970101,29991231". The SST Address Lookup pairs FIPS 43780 with situs codes 5300 and 5301, which situs01.pdf prints as "5300 Loudon County" and "5301 Loudon City". It pairs FIPS 96503 and 99003 (type 63) and 91950, 91951, 91952, 91953, 91954, 91955, 91957, 91958 (type 79) with no situs code.

Changes

The jurisdictions that changed on this Tennessee chart are included with a plan.

This rate file does not print column headers or jurisdiction names. The due-dates page prints a general rate of 7%, a food rate of 4%, and a local maximum of 2.75%. Local rows are the rate-file figures; this monitor does not add the general rate to them. Each local row shows the 7% state rate the rate file prints on its State rate line beside that jurisdiction's own rate. The total says Depends on location, because the total at an address adds every local rate that applies there.

Place names come from two Tennessee Department of Revenue sources: the SST lookup service at tnmap.tn.gov, whose Counties layer names each county FIPS code and whose SST Address Lookup table ties each city and special taxing jurisdiction FIPS code to a situs code, and the County & City Situs Codes list (situs01.pdf), which prints the name of each situs code. Its footer reads "INTERNET (7-18)", so the name list dates from 2018. A row those sources do not tie to one name keeps its type and code.

Jurisdiction names are not in the rate file. Codes and type numbers are printed as stored.
